Kruse's
Polled Herefords is proud to annouce a Level 4 Johne's Disease Free
Herd Status
Johne's Disease is a chronic, contagious enteritis characterized by
persistent and progressive diarrhea, weight loss, debilitation, and
eventually death. It is caused by a bacteria named Mycobacterium avium
paratuberculosis. It affects cattle, sheep, goats, llamas, camels, farmed
deer, and other domestic, exotic, and wild ruminants. It also has been
recognized in wild rabbits. There are conflicting data on the involvement
of the causative organism in Crohn's disease, a chronic enteritis in
man.
